Other funding sources

The Commonwealth Governments Remote Aviation Access Program (RAAP) is administered by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts. The Program provides funding support for access and safety upgrades to remote aerodromes as well as subsidised flights to ensure residents of remote communities have access to regional service centres.

The funding components on RAAP are:

  1. The Remote Air Services Subsidy (RASS) Scheme.
  2. The Remote Aerodrome Inspection (RAI) Program.
  3. The Remote Aerodrome Upgrade (RAU) Program.

Additionally, in the 2019-20 Budget, the Commonwealth Government committed $100 million over 4 years through the Regional Airports Program (RAP) to ensure that key regional airport facilities meet the needs of communities and local industry, now and into the future.
